Safety Procedures

Our First Kids Elementary Ministry staff and volunteers are excited to see our kids and their families once again on Sunday mornings. The new safety protocols that are now in place have been created to help every parent and child feel safe as they return. Please take a moment to read our new protocols to that you and your children will know what to expect when you return to our campus on Sunday morning.

When You Arrive:

  • When you arrive, proceed to the Elementary Welcome Center to have your child’s temperature taken with an infrared thermometer.  Our Elementary Staff and volunteers will assist you with check-in so that you don't have to touch the check-in computer screens.  All Elementary children must be accompanied by one parent for check-in.
  • One parent of 1-3 graders may take their child to their class to minimize congestion in the hallway.
  • Once a 4-5 grader has been checked in, they may go to their class on their own (we will have hall monitors to make sure they locate their class).

Once the Service is Over:

  • One parent of a 1-3 grader will pick their child up in the assigned room listed on the parent receipt sticker.
  • 4-5 graders will be dismissed by class as soon as we know that the service is over.  Please check with your child beforehand to coordinate meeting areas.  (If you prefer to pick up your child from his/her class, that is totally fine.)

Classroom Care:

  • All classrooms have been disinfected before children arrive at the 9:15am and 11:00 am service times.
  • Rugs have been removed from the classrooms
  • Restrooms will be cleaned before, during, and after each service.
  • All hard and soft surfaces will be disinfected after each service.
  • Mask are option for children.

Additional Safety Protocols:

  • Before a staff member or volunteer can enter the Elementary area, they will have temperature checks, and fill out a health questionnaire.
  • All leaders and children will practice frequent hand-washing.
  • All staff, volunteers, and children will be required to wear a mask.
  • Social distancing will be encouraged wherever possible.

Communication with Parents Regarding Possible Exposure of COVID Virus:

  • If a child or adult leader has possibly been exposed to COVID, while they are part of our Sunday morning classes, we will contact parents by email as soon as possible. Please make sure we have your most up to date email address by contacting us at children@fbp.org.

If your child or a leader displays any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever (greater than 100.4)
  • Persistent cough
  • Shortness of breath Or TWO or more of these symptoms:
  • Chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Vomiting
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Diarrhea
  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • Bluish lips or face... they will be asked to leave the building for everyone’s safety.

In this situation, the child will be taken by a staff member to our isolation room and the parents of that child will be contacted and asked to take their child home. Parents of children that might have had contact with that person will be contacted by email.
